Voice over LTE

We are pleased to offer all customers VoLTE calling, for FREE, as part of their plan.

VoLTE translates to voice over LTE (LTE is another term for 4G); this means a voice call made over 4G. The great news is VoLTE provides a better quality of voice call.

You don’t need to do anything to use VoLTE – if your handset is enabled it will happen automatically whenever there is 4G capacity.

Please note, VoLTE requires a compatible device to work. There are some handsets which are 4G capable but do not support VoLTE. Check with your handset supplier if it’s enabled or find out by your phone’s settings. You’re looking for VoLTE (4G calling in the UK)

  • Go to the Settings on your phone

  • Go to the Mobile network section. This step may vary from phone to phone. You may have to tap on ‘More‘ to access the network type

Important

Our network provider, Three, announced 3G is being switched off by the end of 2024. This will allow faster 4G and 5G capabilities and speeds.

If your device only supports 3G, or is a 4G device that doesn’t have the capability to use VoLTE, you’ll need to upgrade to a 4G VoLTE compatible device to continue using our network.

If you’re affected by this, we’ll write to you 30 days before we turn off 3G in your area to help you plan for future coverage.
